VMS Built 2018 Trackhawk – Magnuson TVS 2650 – VMP 105 TB Testing!
With a good, safe, “base tune” loaded into our 2018 VMS Built Trackhawk, we did a baseline, 5th gear pull with the stock throttle body. We then swapped in the VMP 105mm throttle body (bolted it right on with no modifications), waited for temps to match the previous pull and did the same 5th gear pull, with the same tune (no changes at all were made!). You can see the immediate gains! Not only is the throttle response way better (you can feel it on the dyno), but we instantly gained 38rwhp at peak and brought the overall RWHP AVERAGE from 831 to 853. We also gained 5rwtq but more importantly brought the RWTQ AVERAGE up from 756 to 775! We love peak numbers, but races are won when the overall curve is greater! As you can see from the graphs below, the area under the curves for the 105mm TB (solid line) is far greater than the stock TB (dotted line). Not only that, you can see that the stock TB was a choke at high RPMs! With the stock TB, you can see the BOOST clearly hitting peak early in the run and then falling as you climb in RPMs. With the 105mm TB, you see boost hit and continue to climb as you get higher in RPM! No boost drop! In further testing, when we built a custom VMS Velocity stack (removed CAI, designed tube, and built in a bell-mouth – please see our complete testing/overview of this in our blog with pictures!) the boost climbs ever HIGHER and gains are far over 1000RWHP!!!
