Summary from our trip to the NMRA Races in Maple Grove, PA!
Despite the on and off rainy not so great weather, our trip to Maple Grove Raceway was successful! We were able to get our 2014 5.0L Mustang GT/CS running consistent ETs and matching last years best of 9.7s at 141 mph despite adding well over 100lbs with the new 10 pt roll cage custom made by Skinny Kid Race Cars.
We haven’t made any changes to the power over the off season, leaving it with the same as last year, running 15psi of boost on our Roush TVS2300 on E85 making about 700 rwhp with stock heads, cams, etc. We did however, swap from NGK iridium plugs to Brisk Silver Racing plugs, which seems to work better for our E85 application. The only other change we made was replacing the poly bushing lower control arms with Steeda’s Hardcore Race adjustable rear lower control arms.

Our next steps include a CircleD Torque Converter upgrade to see if we can bring this Mustang further into the 9s making the same power. Not only that, we plan to add a Steeda anti-roll bar to help with the launch and keeping our car square, hoping for even more improved 60 ft times.
Overall we are extremely happy with the consistency of this car at the track and how well it works overall. The Pedders XA Coilover Kit on this S197 works great at the track as well as handling on the street. This car still is street driven normally and even picks up the groceries.
Remember, this Mustang simply has a forged lower end, out-of-the-box Roush TVS 2300 (no porting or housing upgrades), E85, Kooks Headers, and our custom Vector Motorsports Tuning. We have maintained the STOCK heads, cams, 6R80 transmission, converter, rear end, etc.
